Feel Good Blogging Challenge Day #2: A Passionate Post

Ok so the topic for today’s post has to deal with why I’m passionate about fashion, hair and my blog. Even though I’m pretty new to blogging, I feel like I have the opportunity to really put myself out there. I can show people my personal style, the places I like to shop, my go to hairstyles and showcase people that inspire or have a part in some aspect of my life.

My love for fashion, first and foremost began with my mom. I’ll admit, all the way until I was in like 7th grade I think, I let my mom pick out my clothes. lol Judge me if you want but that’s just how much trust I had in her sense of style! It wasn’t until I was in the 8th or 9th grade until I started taking over and then that’s when it kinda went down hill for me.lol I went through an awkward stage, which we all go through at some point in our lives. I didn’t get my style life together until I would say around my senior year of high school lol. But anyway long story short, I started to develop my own style and I feel like I got it together now lol.

I loveeeee to shop! Whether at thrift stores, consignment shops, or vintage boutiques (or anything that falls into that category)…and of course my go to Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, H&M, etc….Funny story though, I used to go to thrift stores ALL the time with my mom when I was younger but I never liked it. In fact I HATED it! lol I used to think it was nasty and the stores always smelled weird (which the still do lol) but I just remember going with my mom and it being an ALL DAY THING! I remember sitting in the cart with my brother and my mom just piling stuff on top of us. I never fully appreciated just how much of a character building experience it was at that point in my life. But I can truly see it now. I give all credit to my mother for imparting the abilities of being creative, resourceful, and stylish all in one. Those ALL DAY trips turned into some great memories that shaped my personal fashion and personality to this day.

My passion for hair started after my hair got chopped off by my mom in the 10th grade I think it was lol. Nooo I didn’t do a big chop but it felt like it! I’ve always had pretty long hair throughout my life so when I ended up needing to have it cut to the middle of my neck because of breakage and damage from getting texturizers and not taking good care of it period, I was kinda upset (DEVASTATED!!! lol). But from that point on I guess you could say I started my natural hair journey. Every since then, I was determined to get my hair back to shoulder blade length (at least). I looked up every video, every hair blog, and every product review on earth for tips tricks and answers as to how I can get my hair back healthy and long. I am now a little past BSL (Bra Strap Length) YAYYY!!! But by me doing all of that I’ve been able to help others when they have hair problems along the way. Whether that is with trying a new style or anything along those lines. I’ve also fell in love with the diversity of hair culture and how people express themselves with their hair and how hair and fashion kinda go hand and hand.

All of that has basically translated into this blog, The Mind Of Mahni Makk. An expression of my thoughts, inspirations and just something I can call my own. That’s why I’m so passionate!

7 DAY FEEL GOOD BLOGGING CHALLENGE!!!- Day #1: A Simple Introduction

Hey hey Mini Makks ( I’m gonna start calling you guys that lol). I follow this lovely blogger by the name of Alex Beadon. You’ve probably heard of her and if not you need to click here now!!! But yeah anyway she proposed a blogging challenge and I’ve decided to take it on 🙂 . The challenge is to blog once everyday for the next 7 days, and for todays challenge I have to basically give a simple introduction of myself to you guys. I’ve never formally done this for y’all but hereeee I go 🙂

  1. Who are you?
    • My name is Cheyanne but you mini Makks can call me Mahni Makk*. I came up with the name because I view this as a new chapter in my life so hey why not have a new name too 😉 lol. I kinda have a corny sense of humor but I think I’m funny so that’s all that matters lol. In my free time I like to hang out with my friends and just do new things and learn different stuff. I’m very crafty so you guys will definitely be seeing some of my creations in the near future! I love fashion and hair and the fact that you can be soooo different and original with what you wear and how you style your hair (that kinda rhymed lol). I was born in Newport News VA, but raised between Baltimore, Delaware, and Philly. Right now though, I live in Delaware. If I had to pick one thing about myself, that’s my favorite quality, it would be my personality because I’m goofy and I’m comfortable being myself.

  2. Why did you start blogging?
    • I always thought about possibly starting a blog but I always thought “Nahhh people don’t care” or “Awww no its just a hobby”. It wasn’t until I met Naptural Nicole, a natural hair and lifestyle blogger from Baltimore, that I realized the doors and opportunities that could be open for me by blogging! I first launched The Mind Of Mahni Makk about 2 months ago, so I’m still very new to this but so far so good :).

  3. Who is your blog for?
    • My blog is geared towards anyone that is looking for outfit/hair inspiration.

  4. What’s something you’ve been working on lately that you’re really proud of?
    • This blog of course!!! I’m so proud that I’ve been able to start and keep this thing going. It hasn’t been easy but I’m happy and proud of everything I’ve done thus far. Also being able to see that people are actually reading my stuff and I’m gaining my precious mini Makks.

  5. What’s the ONE message that you hope people take away from your blog?
    • The one message I would hope people take away from my blog is that no matter what you wear of how you do your hair, no matter if everything you wear is designer or whether its thrifted, your individuality is key!

OOTD #3 – “This Weirdo” lol

I decided to act silly and I got my brother to take pictures of my randomness. I’m still trying to get over the awkwardness of taking pictures of my outfits everyday in random places with strangers looking at me like “this weirdo”. But anyway this was my outfit yesterday and I went for a kind of 90’s grunge-ish look, I guess lol. My hair was in a simple top knot.
